“The bodies of the missing males, identified as Narayana Muddana, 49, and Gokul Mediseti, 47, were discovered and recognized.” Haritha Muddana is identified as the female victim. The three victims lived in Chandler, Arizona, and are initially from India, according to a statement released by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on Tuesday. Chandler is a Phoenix suburb. Soon after, officials were able to rescue Haritha from the water and give life-saving efforts, but to no avail; she was pronounced dead on the spot.
The crews then started looking for Narayana and Mediseti, who had fallen into the lake as well. The two males were discovered dead Tuesday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to a statement issued by CCSO authorities, “deputies stationed at a substation in the region were sent to the lake after two men and a woman went through the ice while strolling on the frozen lake.”
Woods Canyon Lake is situated in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests east of Payson. It is a popular destination for hikers, fishermen, and outdoor lovers.
