Two Semis Involved In Major Crash on I-55 Near Staunton!

On Wednesday morning, two semis collided on Interstate 55 near Staunton, prompting the deployment of rescue workers in the area.

Wednesday morning at around 10:47, the Illinois State Police were called to the scene of an accident on northbound Interstate 55 near Staunton Road.

A preliminary investigation by state police revealed that two truck-tractor semi-trailers were involved in the collision. Police said it seemed one truck rear-ended the other.

One truck driver sustained injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital via helicopter. There has been no update on his status as of Wednesday morning.

According to the state police, the accident resulted in a shipment of grain spilling onto the road. The Illinois 4 exit was closed to northbound drivers on Interstate 55.
