Howard County Tragedy New Franklin Resident Killed in Devastating Crash

A crash that occurred on Missouri 5 south of County Road 345 on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a man from New Franklin, as stated in a report filed by the Minnesota State Highway Patrol.

According to the report, Dennis E. Klatt, 65, was driving his pickup truck north on Missouri 5 at approximately four o’clock in the afternoon when it initially drove off the right side of the road, then overcorrected, went off the left side of the road, and finally collided with a trailer that was parked in a private lot.

A medical examiner ruled him deceased at the scene. During the time of the collision, he was not wearing a seatbelt, as stated in the report.
