Boyfriend and Grandmother Arrested After Missing Florida Teen Found at Their House

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a teenage boy and his grandmother have been detained by the police for questioning after the boy’s missing girlfriend was discovered residing at their home.

On September 7, a Grand Island teenager, age 16, was reported missing. Deputies reported that she was later safely located, but not before receiving false reports concerning her whereabouts.

Deputies interrogated numerous family members and others of the girl’s social circle throughout their search for her, including her young boyfriend and the grandmother he lives with, Debbie Myers.

Over the course of three weeks, the youngster and his grandmother underwent twelve interviews. The two allegedly offered “little information” to the investigation during those interviews and insisted they did not know the location of the missing girl, according to authorities.

On September 7, 2023, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing female juvenile, Aliyah Duncan, who has since been recovered:

Deputies told the pair of them about the tools being utilized to locate the girl as well as the penalties they might encounter if they chose to withhold information about her whereabouts from deputies.

They worked together with the FBI, U.S. Marshals, nearby sheriff’s offices, local law enforcement agencies, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to find the girl. They used four search warrants for different social media accounts, six subpoenas for location services, eight urgent after-hours information requests and location services.

The lengthy search, according to Myers, was getting “ridiculous,” and someone should be held accountable. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies eventually located the missing girl at Myers and her grandson’s home, where she had been residing for the whole time she was reported missing.

Myers and her grandson were both detained and accused of interfering with child custody, giving the police false information, and encouraging a minor’s misbehavior.
