A preliminary inquiry revealed that a 55-year-old woman from Burlington, Wisconsin, was driving a Nissan Altima on Route 173 in the west. The Nissan was situated roughly half a mile to the west of Kilbourne Road.
According to Covelli, the Nissan’s driver abruptly changed course and entered the eastbound lanes of traffic, straight into the path of another car. The 62-year-old Arlington Heights man was driving an eastbound Hyundai Sonata when the Nissan struck it head-on.
