Suspect Arrested And Charged In 2021 Heights Vehicular Homicide!
According to the Houston Police Department, a person who is suspected of shooting and ki!!ing a man in the Heights area in 2021 has been detained and prosecuted.
The 482nd State District Court has filed a m*rder charge against 45-year-old Jose Leopoldo Fortiz. He is charged with Jose Mazariegos’s death, which occurred 45 years ago.
At 10:05 p.m. on October 5, police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Oxford Street.
UPDATE: Jose Leopoldo Fortiz, 45, is in custody and charged with murder in the Oct. 2021 fatal shooting of a man at 500 Oxford Street.
Fortiz was arrested on an unrelated felony warrant in Maverick County, Tx.

When the police came, they reportedly discovered Mazariegos lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Mazariegos was pronounced dead at the scene by rescuers from the Houston Fire Department.
Mazariegos was shot by an unidentified suspect when he was reportedly standing outside his truck that was parked in the middle of Oxford Street, according to witnesses. The guy then entered a white Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon, according to the police, and went southbound on Oxford.

A sticker with the letters “SLP,” likely standing for San Luis Potosi, was seen on the driver’s side rear window of the sought car, according to surveillance footage.
Fortiz was reportedly identified as the shooting suspect after more research. According to HPD, the suspect was peacefully taken into custody on Tuesday in the Maverick County, Texas, community of Eagle Pass on the basis of an unrelated criminal accusation.
