Santa Barbara Alert: Highway 101 Shut Down For Hours Following Fatal Collision
A traffic incident that occurred early in the morning in Santa Barbara County resulted in one fatality and one injury. The crash closed a portion of Highway 101.
It happened on the southbound 101 in the Dos Pueblos ranch region on Friday just before three in the morning. West of Goleta is where that is. A pickup truck and a large truck collided.
The driver of the pickup vehicle was declared deceased at the scene after it caught fire. Little injuries prevented the big rig driver from dying.
South of Buellton, the accident prevented southbound traffic on the 101. Highway 154 will be used to route southbound traffic from the Central Coast to Santa Barbara via the Santa Ynez Valley. The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
