One Man Arrested In Dougherty County After Tragic Shooting

Following reports of gunfire on Thursday night at a house containing three people, a male is currently under police arrest.

Around 8:40 p.m., the suspect, Jai-Quille Martin, 23, was taken into custody by the Dougherty County Police Department. Martin is reported to have shot many rounds both inside and outside of a residence located on the 3000 block of Calvary Road.

The gunshots struck a car, but no one was said to have been hurt.

According to a DCPD statement, witnesses allege Martin may have been under the influence of an “unknown substance” when he stated someone was pursuing him. Investigators discovered that Martin had made this claim.

Following the incident, he was taken into custody and accused on three counts of aggravated assault, second-degree criminal damage to property, and carrying a firearm while committing a crime.
