One Dead, Another Injured In Tragic Collision In Brown County

Brown County is in mourning following a terrible two-vehicle incident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Brown County Road 20 and 140th Avenue. One person was killed, and another was severely injured in this awful occurrence.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, who were the first responders on the site, described the tragic events. Dean Steffensmeier, 76, and his passenger, Donna Steffensmeier, 75, were driving west on County Road 20 in their Chevy Equinox.

Their excursion was tragically cut short when they collided with Steven Howard, 72, who was driving his Toyota 4-Runner southbound on 140th Avenue.

Accidents and Emergency Response

The crash had a devastating effect. Donna Steffensmeier was killed at the site after suffering fatal injuries. Her death has devastated the town.

Dean Steffensmeier, her spouse, suffered significant injuries and required immediate medical attention.

Mayo Air Ambulance transported him to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Steven Howard, the other driver involved, was examined at the scene for his injuries and later released.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Furthermore, preliminary investigations have ruled out the usage of alcohol or drugs as contributory causes of the tragedy.
