The IKEA store in Queens is closing its doors for good after less than two years in business.
The Swedish company announced on its website, citing “changing customer needs” as one of the deciding factors. On December 3, the sprawling 115,000-square-foot space will no longer be an IKEA outpost, leaving the massive commercial area in Rego Center to the next bidder. The shop will open on January 11, 2021.
With the closure of the Queens location, IKEA now has only one operating store in the New York City area. For the time being, the Brooklyn location in Red Hook is the only option for New Yorkers looking to purchase IKEA products, and it offers both in-store and online shopping.
Fortunately, the Queens location will accept same-day purchases and scheduled deliveries until closing. The store’s daily hours of operation are 10 am to 9 pm.
