Fundraising Event in Indiana County for 2-Year-Old’s Rare Disease
A family in Indiana County is organizing a special event to gather support and funds for their little boy, Zander Marshall, who has a rare and incurable illness.
Zander, who is only 2 years old, was diagnosed with Leigh Syndrome, a condition without any known cure or treatment.
Fortunately, the family reached out to the Cure Mito Foundation, a group dedicated to funding research and gene therapy for diseases like Leigh Syndrome.
The foundation has been working hard since 2018 to find a cure for this rare disease, providing hope for families facing similar challenges.
However, the financial burden is significant, with the family needing around $2.5 million to take Zander to Texas for the required treatment.
Zander’s father, Patrick Marshall, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Cure Mito Foundation, emphasizing their commitment to finding a gene therapy cure.

To help raise funds for Zander’s treatment, the family is hosting a special event called “Hope For Zander” at the Cherryhill Township Volunteer Fire Department in Penn Run.
The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., and tickets are available for $10.
Every dollar raised from ticket sales will go directly to the Cure Mito Foundation, supporting their mission to find a cure for rare diseases like Leigh Syndrome.
