Burglary Reported at Washington County Museum

Early on Christmas Eve, a break-in at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals in unincorporated Washington County prompted an investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to an alarm at around 2:20 a.m., discovering a broken window at the museum located on NW Groveland Drive.

Authorities are searching for a suspect who broke into a museum early on Christmas Eve:

Upon arrival, deputies noticed footprints leading away from the museum and attempted to track the intruder with K9 units. However, the suspect managed to evade capture.

Subsequent exploration inside the museum revealed a significant theft from a display case holding numerous gold items.

The exact value of the stolen items has not been disclosed.
