Two Deputies-Involved Collision On Highway 42, Minor Injuries Reported

Randolph County, NC: Two Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies were engaged in a vehicular crash on Highway 42 near Iron Mountain on Sunday morning. The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the crash happened around 7 a.m.

Factors Behind The Collision

The deputies were dispatched in response to an emergency call to help EMS staff who had reported being in danger. The collision happened near the crossroads of NC Highway 42 South and Glenn Country Road.

When the call for help came in, the EMS team was in the middle of transporting a patient to the hospital. According to reports, one of the deputies failed to detect the patrol car ahead’s brake lights, resulting in a rear-end incident.

Consequences And Injuries

Fortunately, the collision was minimal. Both deputies got minor injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital right away. They were freed a few hours after therapy.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol described the accident as minor, highlighting the severity of the injuries inflicted.

Additional Incident At The Scene

In a separate event at the site, firefighters had to hold a male who refused to be restrained forcibly. He allegedly assaulted EMS personnel after being transported in an ambulance.

This person has since been apprehended and is being jailed on a $10,000 secured bond. This incident complicates the day’s proceedings by showing the difficulties that emergency personnel face.
