Tragic Collision: BCSO Reports Fatal Accident on I-40 East Near Tijeras!

On I-40 eastbound, close to the Tijeras exit, there has been a terrible accident. At the 175-mile sign, BCSO Deputies sped to the scene, but the collision was so serious that efforts to save the person’s life failed, and the person was declared dead at the spot.

There are currently few details available about the accident. We will post updates as soon as we obtain them. The BCSO traffic investigation unit is its route to acquire more data.

Please be advised that I-40 eastbound is completely closed, beginning at the Carnuel exit at the 170-mile mark.

A BCSO unit was blocking eastbound I-40 at the time of this publishing, according to the NMDOT cameras. The NM DOT camera with the view seen in the image we provided is called “I-40 @ Carnuel Overpass.”
