Pride Ride Bicyclist’s Hit-and-Run Death Near Downtown Houston-Reward of $5,000 Offered to Find the Suspected Driver
Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the driver who fatally struck a bicyclist participating in a Pride Ride earlier this month. Police in Houston say the hit-and-run occurred on October 11 in the 2200 block of West Dallas Street.
The cyclists were riding in one lane when the victim was said to have lost control and veered into oncoming traffic. A motorist of a silver Mercedes struck the cyclist. The driver allegedly tried to rush away from the situation, but his tyre ran over the rider again, prompting police to intervene.
The police couldn’t obtain vehicle plate number.
Police identified the rider as Shane McKinney, a guy in his 40s, and he was confirmed dead at the hospital. Group members on bicycles attempted to stop the motorist but were unsuccessful. The police have stated that they need video proof to obtain a plate number. Help solve this fatal hit-and-run by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477 if you have any information.
