Michigan State Police Investigate Fatal Teen Crash on I-96
According to authorities, a teenage driver on I-96 in Detroit lost control of their car on Sunday and died as a result.
The 16-year-old motorist apparently lost control while traveling eastbound on I-96 close to Fullerton Avenue at an “extremely high rate of speed” around 3:50 p.m. According to Michigan State Police, the car went up the embankment, struck a utility pole, and rolled.
The automobile rolled, and the driver—who was only identified as a Dearborn resident—was ejected. After being brought to the hospital, they were declared deceased.

As of Monday morning, one of the vehicle’s passengers was critically ill after being transported to the hospital. The identity of the passenger remained undisclosed.
On Sunday, Nov. 5, police closed I-96 for an investigation; however, traffic is now again able to flow through the route. The collision only involved one car.
