Columbia Tragedy: Howard County Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

An investigation is being conducted by the Howard County police department into a shooting that occurred in Columbia and resulted in the death of one individual and the injury of another individual that was not considered to be life-threatening.

If you have any information, the police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 or more.

On December 17, at around 9:25 p.m., law enforcement officials responded to the 7600 block of Woodpark Lane.

Upon arrival, they discovered two victims who had been shot outside in the open stairway of an apartment complex.

The University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center received both of the victims once they were transferred there.

During the night, Jeremiah Isaiah Darden, who was 18 years old and from Columbia, was pronounced dead.

A second victim, a male from Columbia who was twenty years old, was treated and then released from the hospital.

However, investigators believe that the shots were fired from a vehicle that is unknown to them.

However, they do not currently have any suspect information. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by detectives in order to discover whether or not the incident was a random occurrence.
