APD Reopens The Cold Case of 19-Year-Old Davante Reece!

The homicide that took place in east Austin over six months ago has the Austin Police Department seeking the public’s assistance in locating fresh leads. Davante Reece, 19, was named as the homicide victim.

Officers from the APD responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Manor Road and Rogge Lane at around 11:29 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9. When responding officers looked there, they were unable to find any victims.

Shortly after, according to the APD, a woman reported her boyfriend had been shot when she contacted 911. The call was made at the 6200 block of Breeze Way, which was a few blocks away. Officers arrived there.

Reece was discovered by police in the vicinity with “apparent gunshot wounds.” Reece received first aid. However, the APD reports that he passed away at the site.

Reece was allegedly shot on the 5700 block of Manor Road, according to investigators. The investigation is still ongoing, and no one has been taken into custody.
