A Suspect Who Barricaded Himself In A Hollywood Apartment: Discovered Dead After A Standoff Sparked By An Eviction Notice
Hollywood, California (KABC) After a standoff with law enforcement in Hollywood on Thursday that resulted in the 101 Freeway being closed for several hours, a suspect who had been barricaded was discovered dead from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Around 7 a.m., according to the authorities, deputies were delivering an eviction notice at 2330 Cahuenga Boulevard when they heard a gunshot from the apartment.
A SWAT team sped up, and the deputies withdrew. Crisis mediators made an effort to speak with the suspect who was behind bars.
The 101 Freeway had to be closed in both directions for hours due to the circumstances.
The balcony of the apartment raised concerns among the authorities.
As AIR7 HD flew over, authorities sent a drone to the apartment window where the suspect was allegedly holed up.
Officials disclosed that the suspect, who has not yet been given a name. He is discovered dead from what they believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after 1 p.m.
The eviction notice was still attached to the door, according to neighbor Trevor Marsh, who noticed it a few weeks ago. Additionally, information about a rent increase was previously attached to the door. It is left there, the man continued.
Since then, the 101 Freeway has fully reopened.
