U.S. States to Distribute $400 Stimulus Check for Couples Earning Under $150K. Here’s WHY?

After the proposal by GOP in the state’s House of Representatives was passed, Illinois residents could receive extra cash.

According to WCIA, Joint filers earning less than $150,000 would receive $400, and taxpayers earning less than $75,000 would receive a $200 check.

Rep. Tom Demmer said the funding will “mirror” some of the funding provided by the federal government over the previous years.

He said:

“$400 won’t make all the problems go away but it could have a positive impact.

“It could be an extra week or two of groceries, it could be a few extra utility bills or it could make the difference between being able to buy new shoes or winter coats for your kids.”

Illinois doesn’t seem to be the only state trying to help Americans ahead of the holidays. It appears that other states are also preparing checks for their resident.

From November 29, Californians will start receiving stimulus checks worth up to $1,100.

The extra cash is expected to be distributed to nine million people before the end of the year.

The California Adjusted Gross Income (CAAGI) for eligibility ranges from $1 to $75,000.

Several state stimulus checks would also be sent out before Christmas in a number of other states.

If you want to receive the extra cash, you must have filed your 2020 tax returns by October 15.

Residents’ zip codes are used to determine where payments will be sent.

For instance, for Californians whose zip codes end in 585-719, checks will be mailed to such residents beginning November 29 and ending December 13.

There are estimations that state stimulus checks will be mailed to homes by December and at the beginning of the new year.

BOOST TO CASH

The Social Security check for retired workers is set to rise to around $1,600 per month in January.

This will be the first time since 1982 that stimulus payments in the new year will include the 5.9% increase.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices have increased by 6.3 percent across the last year.

In October, retired workers pocketed an average of $1,562.66. When the new COLA takes effect, they will receive $1,654.65.

The average check will rise by $92 starting in January.

Meanwhile, the Biden Administration has been urged to issue another round of federal stimulus checks amid crippling inflation to aid cash-strapped citizens.

The price of goods and services rose by 6.2 percent in October compared to last year, marking the highest inflation rate in 31 years.

GOP lawmakers in Illinois have proposed to give working American citizens earning less than $75,000 a $200 stimulus check.
