Two-Vehicle Crash North of Duluth Claims Life of 78-Year-Old!
Two vehicles were involved in an accident on Friday morning north of Duluth, which left one man dead and another critically hurt. According to a news release from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Larson, 42, of Duluth, was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth with critical injuries, while Paul Larson, 78, of Duluth, was pronounced deceased at the site.
Around 8:44 on Friday morning, Rice Lake, Missouri, deputies from St. Louis County responded to the collision in the 3700 block of Martin Road, close to the intersection with Woodland Avenue.
A minivan was reportedly heading east on Martin Road when it slowed down, pulled over to the shoulder, and then made a U-turn to head west. On Martin Road, a flatbed truck was also moving east when it collided with the minivan on the driver’s side.

According to the sheriff’s office, Paul Larson was a passenger, and Jason Larson was the minivan’s driver. Ricky Siegle, a 47-year-old Duluth resident and the driver of the flatbed truck, was unharmed.

The St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Rice Lake Fire Department, Duluth Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and Mayo Ambulance provided assistance to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office at the incident. The accident is still being looked into.
