Three Arrested in Connection to Westpointe Park Shooting!

After looking into a shooting that happened around midnight on October 1, three people were arrested. The person had minor injuries, so rescuers took them to the hospital.

At 12:17 a.m. on Sunday, someone called to say that gunshots had been fired at Westpointe Park, which is at 1155 N. Colonel Road.  The first officer on the scene helped the 21-year-old guy who had been shot. He put a tourniquet on the arm where he had been shot.

Yonathan Hernandez-Aguila, who is 21 years old, is said to have shot him. Abdiaziz Ibrahim, who is 20 years old, and Luis Leal-Vergara, who is 19 years old, were also taken in connection with the shooting. Police said that the three of them “knowingly showed up to the park to engage in violent conduct.”

Police said that after the ki!!ing, the three of them drove away in a car. The three suspects were found and arrested in Kerns by the SLCPD’s Gan Unit. They were taken to the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, where Hernandez-Aguilar was charged with aggravated att@ck, felony discharge of a firearm, and riot. Ibrahim and Leal-Vergara were charged with rioting, which is a crime.
