US New Vaccine Mandate: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly [2021]

Despite the increasing number of cases, Americans are reluctant to get Covid-19 vaccines.

Instead of encouraging individuals to take the vaccine, President Biden is now forcing the vaccine mandate down to the people’s throat.

The latest announcement of COVID-19 vaccine requirements will now affect roughly 100 million Americans. This includes a vaccine mandate for all federal workers and contractors, and large companies with over 100 employees.

While addressing the media, President Biden said, “My job as president is to protect all Americans. So tonight, I’m announcing that the Department of Labor is developing an emergency rule to require all employers with 100 or more employees that together employ over 80 million workers to ensure their workforces are fully vaccinated or show a negative test at least once a week.”

He summed up his statement by saying — we’re going to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated coworkers.”

According to President Biden, The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration  is currently in the process of making a rule of employers with at least 100 workers to come on-board with this mandate.

If a company fails to comply with the vaccine requirement, they could get fined for up to $14,000 per violation.

Earlier in July Mr. Biden had announced that Federal workforce would have to provide proof of their vaccination or report of regular testing.biden receives

Now, this latest announcement has come as a part of much touted six-point plan of Biden Administration against COVID-19. Within hours of announcing the new vaccine requirements, Biden Administration received praise, condemnation & caution from all around the corner.

However, before I say some something else in this regard, let’s take a look at Americans who must comply with the latest vaccine requirements.

The Good – Supported by Big US Companies

Some big companies including Amazon voiced support to President Biden’s New Vaccine Mandate. Amazon’s VP of public policy for the retailers Brian Huseman said, “We know vaccines, coupled with widespread and convenient testing, serve as powerful tools to help slow the spread of Covid-19 in our communities, keeping the U.S. economy open, and protecting America’s work force.”

Despite Amazon, 3M, Qiagen and other businesses complying with COVID-19 vaccination, and test mandate, reaction from powerful business lobbying groups has been muted.

The Bad – Too Little, Too Late?

Dr. Georges C. Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, said the actions might be “too little, too late,” and warned that Americans opposed to vaccination might dig in and bristle at being told what to do.

The American Hospital Association was cautious, warning that the moves “may result in exacerbating the severe work force shortage problems that currently exist.”

The Ugly – RNC Will Sue the Biden Administration

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in a statement on Thursday said, “Joe Biden told Americans when he was elected that he would not impose vaccine mandates.”

“He lied.”

“Now small businesses, workers, and families across the country will pay the price.”

“Like many Americans, I am pro-vaccine and anti-mandate. Many small businesses and workers do not have the money or legal resources to fight Biden’s unconstitutional actions and authoritarian decrees, but when his decree goes into effect, the RNC will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”
