One Dead After Rescue by Firefighters in Crystal Lake

On Thursday morning, authorities said that a house fire in Crystal Lake, which also trapped at least two dogs inside the residence, resulted in the death of one person who was rescued by firemen from the fire.

In response to a complaint of a structure fire that occurred in the 900 block of Coventry Lane in Crystal Lake at around 7:37 a.m. on Thursday, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department arrived on the scene.

It was reported to 911 by a neighbor that they had seen the house on fire and that there was a possibility that one of the residents and three dogs were still inside.

One person died after being rescued by firefighters from a house fire in Crystal Lake that also trapped at least two dogs inside the home Thursday morning, authorities said:

The firefighters arrived at the scene within six minutes, according to the officials of the fire department, and saw smoke and flames emanating from the single-family property.

Rescue procedures were initiated by firefighters, and one individual was rescued from the residence.

They were treated by paramedics, and then they were brought to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley, where they ultimately passed away, according to officials from the fire department.

Additionally, two of the three dogs were saved by the firefighters. It is not known whether the third dog was killed by the fire or whether it attempted to escape.

Through the activation of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), more resources from the fire department were brought to the location of the incident.

Algonquin, McHenry, Huntley, Woodstock, Fox River Grove, Cary, Wauconda, Carpentersville, Marengo, and West Dundee were among the fire departments who responded to the scene or covered calls in Crystal Lake involving the incident.

According to officials from the fire department, there were no injuries sustained by firemen during the fire.

Unfortunately, the identify of the victim has not been made public by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office as of yet.

Both the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal are continuing their investigation into the fire.
