NY Man’s 50-Year Sentence in Miami Shooting Case
A man from New York was given a 50-year federal prison sentence on November 14 and then five years of supervised release for watching his victim and then planned to shoot them at point-blank range.
The killer, 46-year-old Jaime Serrano Jr. from New York, flew from New York to Miami. From the time Serrano got to Miami, he watched his target at home and at work.
Serrano rented a car to hide the fact that he was watching the target. After being watched for four days, Serrano switched his rental car for another one and then shot the person.
Jimenez, Serrano’s partner-in-crime, went into the victim’s neighborhood while wearing a mask, gloves, and a gun. As the victim was getting ready to pull into his garage, Jimenez jumped out from behind his car and began shooting.

Jimenez shot the person eight times. The victim lived, but he was hit three times and had to have surgery to get rid of the bullets that were still inside him. Jimenez hid in the trunk of Serrano’s parked car after running back to it. They were then sent away by Serrano.
Serrano was found guilty after a two-week trial in August and given the punishment. On February 12, 2024, there will be a hearing about compensation.
The sentence given by U.S. District Judge Roy K. Altman was delivered by U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida and Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri of the FBI’s Miami Field Office.
FBI The case was looked into by Miami’s Violent Crimes and Fugitive Task Force. It was brought to court by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Abbie D. Waxman, Michael E. Gilfarb, and Katherine W. Guthrie.
