A video shows a Midwestern Bald Eagle getting a huge catch by capturing a huge carp.
This was a chance encounter captured on video by some vacationers in Hayward, Wisconsin on the Chippewa Flowage. Vacationers were hanging out in their cabin when they noticed a big noise outside.

“We were staying in a cabin in Hayward Wisconsin on the Chippewa Flowage. We were sitting in the living room with a view of the lake and noticed an eagle swimming towards our beach,” The people who took the video said via the description.
“At first, I thought it was hurt but then it swam to shore with a 20 LBS Carp in its talons. It sat on the shore and ate the fish for a couple of hours and then came back in the morning and finished eating the Carp.
It was truly an amazing sight to see! I’m glad I was to capture it on film for others to enjoy.”

The Raptor Resource Project estimates that an eagle can lift as much as 10 pounds and sometimes more.
Brittanica says that the bald eagle is actually a sea eagle (Haliaeetus species) that commonly occurs inland along rivers and large lakes.
The adult male is about 90 cm (36 inches) long and has a wingspan of 2 metres (6.6 feet). Females, which grow somewhat larger than males, may reach 108 cm (43 inches) in length and have a wingspan of 2.5 metres (8 feet).

An eagle can consume one pound of fish in about four minutes; the eagle holds its prey with one talon, holds onto its perch with the other, then tears off each bite with its beak.
While fish is the primary food of bald eagles, but they will eat a variety of other animals and birds. Their prey items include waterfowl and small mammals like squirrels, prairie dogs, raccoons and rabbits.

The American bald eagle was adopted as the national bird symbol of the United States of America in 1782. It was chosen because of its majestic, beauty, strength, and because it’s native to North America. It is considered one of the largest North American birds of prey.
