A 23-year-old man was detained on suspicion of attempted murder after reportedly stabbing a woman and her dog on Tuesday night in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles with what seemed to be a sword.
The Los Angeles Police Department has stated that the attack on the 43-year-old woman and her dog looks to be random. She was taken to a neighborhood hospital. Witnesses reportedly observed the culprit fatally knife the woman’s dog. There is not much information regarding the dog’s condition.
Just before midnight, the 1200 block of South Victoria Avenue received numerous calls from people reporting seeing a person attacking someone with a lethal weapon, according to LAPD spokesman Officer Lizeth Lomeli. When police got on the scene, they were able to catch the culprit.
Eric Herrera was named as the suspect by authorities. According to the jail records, $1 million was set on his bail.
