HOUSTON — Houston police homicide investigators questioned several people who were present in an apartment where a young woman was fatally shot late Sunday.
According to police, the incident initially reported as self-inflicted, but investigators determined the woman was murdered.
According to the Houston Police Department, a 16-year-old male has been charged with murder.
The shooting happened around midnight in the 8000 block of Antoine, near W. Gulf Bank.
Police arrived and discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to her head inside an apartment bedroom. At the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.
Officers initially believed the shooting was self-inflicted, but investigators determined the woman did not cause the wound.
The Houston Police Department later stated in a press release that “a male was detained at the scene, questioned, and subsequently charged in the shooting.”

So far, police have not released any additional information about the events resulting from the shooting and the victim’s relationship with the suspect.
The identity of the victim has also not been revealed.
