A former high school football star was shot and died in Missouri City, and his former Ridge Point High School teammate is suspected of murder. Friday, Terry Petry, 24, was discovered shot in the chest at a residence on the 800 block of Turtle Creek Drive in Missouri City, according to authorities. He was taken to a hospital nearby, where he was declared dead.
“It is unbelievable”-The victim’s mother says
Alex Tristen Francis, his former teammate, has been accused of murder. The bond set by the judge was $350,000. “What? You’ve got the wrong man, “Kathy Davis, the victim’s mother, stated. “I said, “That’s his closest friend!” I was unable to believe it.” Davis was shocked to learn that her son’s best friend was suspected of murdering him. She said he was spending the night at his residence on the night of the shooting, as he frequently did.
According to Davis, the two were football teammates at Ridge Point High School and were close friends afterward. Davis remarked, “He slept on my sofa.” He was recently in my house the night before last.” Petry stood out for Ridge Point, earning first-team all-district recognition and being named the district’s most valuable player. In 2017, he graduated from college.
The Country loses a precious player
Davis stated, “Oh my gosh, for that youngster, football was his life.” “That was all he discussed. In the past, he and his pals would play in the front yard. Football was his main interest. When he scored a touchdown, he was unstoppable.” Davis said she and her family never missed a game while cheering from the stands.
His abilities won him a scholarship to Missouri University. He left before graduation and subsequently attended Blinn College and Texas Southern University for a year each. Davis was always proud despite not being able to play the sport he cherished due to injury. Davis remarked, “He was a boon.” “I have four children, and he is the only one with a high school diploma and who attended college for nearly four years.”
Davis had invited the parents of one of her son’s high school classmates to assist in caring for and raising Petry. April Staton and her husband Patrick Hampton viewed Petry as a second son, and their families rapidly linked. On Friday, deputies walked up to their residence, causing them to experience shock. Hampton stated, “He frequented our home, and we knew Alex, so we could never have imagined this happening.”
Their grieving family is left to wonder what occurred. “After spending the night on my couch, Alex will take a shower. I prepared his breakfast. He enjoyed my beef stew, “Davis remarked. “That is the hole that exists. I don’t comprehend. I am curious as to why.” All of them have been inundated with comments from community members regarding the impact Petry has had on them.
The cause of murder remains unveiled
Davis stated, “I received several texts and phone calls from individuals I had no clue even knew my child, telling me how much they will miss him and how nice he was.” “Terry was described as “this” and “that.” I know that my son was extraordinary, but hearing it from others is humbling. He will be sorely missed.”
Uncertainty surrounds the cause of the fatal gunshot, but police suspect a disturbance had a role. The probe is still active. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral and memorial costs.
