Crash in East Orange County Took Out 2 Men, Reports by the Florida Highway Patrol

Orange County, Florida – Two men were reported killed in a car crash that happened in east Orange County on Wednesday by the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Kim Montes, the crash happened in the area of Curry Ford Road and Cypress Springs Parkway at around 6 PM.

In a statement by FHP, a 26-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2016 Toyota SUV northbound on Curry Ford Road and a 37-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2021 Ford F150 pickup truck southbound on Curry Ford Road.

Witnesses pointed out that the Toyota was driving over the speed limit and lost control of the approaching SUV. Accounts say that the Toyota went through the grass median and into the southbound lanes.

Furthermore, according to the records, the front of the Toyota hit the front of the pickup truck and it overturned after the impact.

The driver of the pickup died at the scene and the driver of the SUV later died at a local hospital AdventHealth East Orlando while a 17-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy who were passengers in the pickup sustained minor injuries. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both of them were transferred to a local hospital. The car crash is now being investigated and Curry Road was closed for a few hours while the investigation was ongoing.

According to the Association for Safe International Road Travel, approximately 1.35 million people die in road crashes each year; on average 3,700 people lose their lives every day on the roads. Additionally, more than 38,000 people die every year in crashes on U.S. roadways. The U.S. traffic fatality rate is 12.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
