Coweta County Prepares Funeral Services For Fallen Deputy

Funeral arrangements are set to commence on Sunday for Coweta County deputy Eric Minix, who was shot and died last week while performing his duties.

Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg is open for visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral then takes place at the same church on Monday at 11:00 a.m.

Two motorcades are open to the public: one on Sunday at 2 p.m. from McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory to Crossroads Church, and another on Monday at 9 a.m. from Coweta County Fairgrounds to Crossroads Church.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has ordered the flags be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Monday in remembrance at the Georgia State Capitol and in Coweta County.

31-year-old Minix passed away last Thursday. According to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, he traveled into Alabama after allegedly stealing a car.

While attempting to apprehend the culprit, he was struck by a Lanett police officer. While the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency conducts an investigation, the officer is placed on administrative leave, and the suspect is taken to jail.

Three daughters and a wife survive Minix. “We have lost a good deputy. We have lost a good man. We have lost a good friend,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
