Chicago Gun Violence: 17 Shot, 4 Killed Over Weekend, CPD Says

Chicago police reported 17 weekend shootings, four of them deadly.

Friday night’s drive-by shooting on Austin’s West Side killed two men and badly wounded a woman. The 29-year-old male and 29-year-old woman were driving south in the 200 block of South Cicero Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Friday when a beige SUV opened fire.

His head, armpit, and thigh were shot. He died in Mount Sinai. The 36-year-old motorist died at the same hospital after being shot in the back. Her head, arm, and back were shot. She arrived at Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

Two South Side Gresham residents were shot and killed two hours later. Police said a man was shot twice in the chest and died at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Oak Lawn.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office stated Clarence Williams, 28, died at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after being shot in the head. He had a firearm.

A Greater Grand Crossing company injured two individuals Saturday afternoon. A guy entered the 600 block of East 79th Street businesses at 12:20 p.m. and shot a man and woman.

The 18-year-old male was shot in the buttocks and transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center in excellent condition. A 24-year-old woman was struck in the back. She was fair at South Shore Hospital.

A Southwest Side man was shot during an attempted carjacking Sunday night in Clearing. The 34-year-old was in a vehicle in the 6400 block of South Cicero Avenue at 7:50 p.m. when three individuals produced weapons and demanded the car, police said.

Police claimed the guy was shot in the abdomen while resisting one of the suspects. Officials reported his severe condition at Christ Medical Center.

Last weekend, 31 local residents were shot, six fatally.
