According to a report, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said Democrats need to pivot back toward the needs of working Americans and make a “major course correction.”
During an infighting period among Democrats and amid declining poll numbers, Biden’s domestic agenda stalled much of what it was supposed to accomplish.
“It’s important that we have the guts to take on the very powerful corporate interests that have an unbelievably powerful hold on the economy of this country,” Sanders said to The Guardian.
Working-class Republicans are earning more support, he said, which is not surprising.
“It’s not because the Republican Party has anything to say to them,” Sanders expressed.
“It’s because in too many ways the Democratic Party has turned its back on the working class.”

Foxnews reports Sanders and other members of Congress’ left-wing, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, to have regularly criticized the Biden administration’s lack of boldness and progressive policies.
“The Democratic Party has a fundamental question to ask itself,” Sanders said on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Are you prepared to stand with struggling working families all over this country? Do you have the guts to take on the moneyed interests whose greed has caused such enormous pain for so many? Which side are you on?”

Biden’s words seemed to mirror Sanders’, a day after the president gave an uncharacteristically fiery speech about voting rights in Atlanta, in which he asked:
“Do you want to be the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis? This is the moment to decide, to defend our elections, to defend our democracy. If you do that you will not be alone.”
Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., have also received criticism from Sanders for often breaking with other Democrats.
Despite bucking the party’s line, Sinema said on Thursday that she would oppose Democrats’ election reform measures.
“What we have got to do Is create a resonance with the American people that demands Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema and everybody else, not to mention Republicans, start doing what the American people want rather than what wealthy campaign contributors or the big-money interests want,” Sanders told NBC’s Seth Meyers in a recent show.
