A Near West Side gunshot killed a driver and injured a passenger Friday afternoon.
Chicago police said the 36-year-old driver and his 29-year-old passenger were shot in the 1900 block of West Jackson Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m. The car then hit a tree on that block.

Police said the upper-body-shot guy died at Stroger Hospital.
Police said she was rushed to the same hospital in serious condition. Her number of strikes and location were unknown.
No arrests were reported.
