Atlanta police say they have two juveniles in custody in connection with a shooting last month that claimed the lives of a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old.
Authorities in Atlanta said Wednesday that they had arrested two juveniles in connection with a shooting last month that claimed the lives of a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday that Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. of the Atlanta Police Department made the arrest announcement.
However, the suspects’ identities remained hidden. Two counts of murder, one count of aggravated assault, and gang charges are pending against both, according to Hampton.
According to Hampton, the two suspects were 15 and 16 years old and attended public schools in Atlanta.
He claimed the U.S. Marshals Service helped bring the 16-year-old to justice in New York City. Hampton emphasized that they were still actively investigating the matter.
“Further fees are to be expected.” Investigators have not disclosed the motive for the shooting.
The incident occurred on the 17th Street bridge on November 26th, not far from the Atlantic Station commercial and residential district.
Authorities said 12-year-old Zyion Charles died at the spot, and 15-year-old Cameron Jackson died several days later due to his injuries.
According to the authorities, four more minors were treated and released from a local hospital.
According to their investigation, Jackson, who was scooting around on his scooter, was the prime suspect.
After exceeding a curfew set for 3 p.m., investigators said they had to physically remove a group of youngsters and teenagers from the Atlantic Station premises.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred on a nearby bridge after the gang had walked there.
Following the incident, the adolescents were caught on camera boarding a MARTA train at the Arts Center station.
The train’s cameras captured the adolescents on tape as they went around the city, reportedly partying and showing off their weapons to other passengers.
