San Diego sets a new record for the highest gas price in the county’s history.

The county of San Diego has set new marks for the highest gas prices in the county’s history.

Gas is quite expensive, according to Coronado resident Douglas Guyton, who just filled up his Mustang for more than $80.

It was just one day after a run of 18 price hikes in 20 days came to an end that the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County reached a record high of $4.744 on Monday.

In comparison to the previous year, it climbed by $1.21. San Diegans are unable to keep up with the rising costs of living.

The national average price of a gallon of gas, which is $3.528, is significantly lower than the price in San Diego. In California, it’s a little closer at $4.728 per capita compared to the county. Due to high rent and petrol prices, many people claim that their entire paycheck is depleted in a matter of seconds.

“Typically, I spend 60 to 70 dollars, and I ride a motorcycle so that I can save money on petrol.” “This is for my wife, so we don’t use it as much, but it still ends up being pretty expensive,” said Clark Lamperd, who worked as a gas pump attendant at a Chevron station in Kearny Mesa. Lamperd drove away from the scene after spending $65 on gas.

However, even while California has historically been heavily hit by rising gas costs, according to AAA, the situation has gotten even worse in recent months due to a variety of factors, including the state’s geographic location.

The country is suffering from inflation as a result of the economic recovery that has occurred as a result of the pandemic. Apart from that, there is a geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Russia is the world’s third-largest oil producer, and as a result of the disruption in supply, the price of crude oil has risen significantly.

“The second reason is that we are seeing an increase in demand for fuel as many sections of the country begin to warm up and people need gasoline to take those road trips to outdoor locations,” said AAA spokesperson Doug Shupe.

He also pointed out that the switchover to the summer mix’ has had a role in the frightening numbers seen at the gas pumps this summer.

“Normally, we are in the top five for the highest prices.” California is currently the most expensive state in the country in terms of gas prices, ranking first in the nation. As a result, we understand how frustrating this can be,” Shupe stated.

Furthermore, Senate Bill 1 imposes an automatic gas tax increase every summer, and many people are expecting that Governor Gavin Newsom will be able to postpone the increase this summer.

Other residents, on the other hand, are driving alternate modes of transportation, such as electric cars. However, for people who do not drive electric vehicles, AAA recommends the following steps to save money on petrol.

Here is a comprehensive list of suggestions for saving money on gas:

  • Reduce the amount of time you spend in the air conditioning. At highway speeds, open windows have less of an impact on fuel economy than the engine power required to operate the air conditioning compressor, even while traveling at high speeds.
  • Plan ahead of time to do numerous tasks in a single trip, and try to avoid traveling during peak traffic hours wherever possible.
  • For those who have more than one car, choose the one that is the most fuel-efficient and matches the needs of the travel at hand.
  • Most importantly, check around for the cheapest gas station in order to save money on gasoline.
