COVID-19 is still wreaking havoc on the live music industry because of an increase in the spread of the extremely contagious omicron version, which was first discovered in the United States in early 2022.
We’ll be updating this list as announcements of cancellations and postponements come in. Due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the following 2022 concerts and festivals have been canceled or rescheduled.
Roddy Ricch
On January 12, the rapper said that he had to cancel his scheduled appearance on Saturday Night Live on January 15 due to a conflict.
“To keep everyone safe, I will not be performing on Saturday Night Live this weekend due to recent COVID-19 exposure on my crew,” he explained on Instagram Stories. In the meantime, I’m working with the SNL staff on a new date! LOVE [pray emoji] STAY SAFE.”
Dirty Honey and Mammoth
From Jan. 28 to Feb. 20, the organizations postponed the start of their combined tour by over a month. In a joint statement, they said, “We take the health and safety of the artists, road crews, local venue staff and especially our fans extremely seriously.”.

Jason Isbell
Isbell was diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 11 and had to postpone and reschedule many gigs as a result. “Got myself a breakthrough case of COVID,” Isbell wrote on Twitter. My throat is scratchy, and I have some muscle aches, but no cough or breathing problems, just in case you’re wondering.”
It gave me a boost, and I’m thankful for it.” Concerts by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, scheduled for January 11-12 in Asheville, North Carolina, have been postponed.
It has been announced that the shows in Louisville, Kentucky (Jan. 14-15) and Columbus, Ohio (Jan. 16) will be rescheduled, as well as Wilmington, North Carolina (Jan. 19). Adia Victoria will open for him in Charlotte, N.C., on Jan. 21.
The BPM Festival Costa Rica
Two days before the start of The BPM Festival in Costa Rica, the event’s organizers postponed the event. Tamarindo, Costa Rica, was originally slated to host the festival from January 12 to 18, 2022.
The replacement dates have not yet been announced by the organizers. In a statement, BPM organizers stated that they “sympathize with your sense of disappointment and frustration and are beyond heartbroken to share this news with you” after more than a year of planning and looking forward to welcoming you to the 15th-anniversary edition.
Billy Joel
Billy Joel announced through Twitter that his Madison Square Garden gig scheduled for Jan. 14 has been rescheduled for Aug. 24, marking the second time the event has been postponed.
To ensure the safety and well-being of my band, crew, and fans, we have decided to postpone the MSG concert on January 14th due to tragic COVID-related circumstances,” Joel stated.
Rina Sawayama
COVID constraints have forced me to cancel all my European tour dates in March this year,” he said in a statement. Sawayama expressed his disappointment, writing on social media, “I was so pleased to come to play for you guys.” Despite the bad news, she pledged to return to the European Union “soon” with “a bigger show and new music (EEEE),” which she described as “EEEEE.”
The 64th Grammy Awards
Since the COVID-19 omicron form is spreading, The Recording Academy has canceled its 64th annual Grammy Awards. CRYPTO.COM Arena in Los Angeles was originally scheduled to host the event on January 31.
However, sources claim that the date has been moved to the spring – potentially April. “The Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” stated a joint statement from the Recording Academy and CBS.
“After careful thought and study with municipal and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community, and our numerous partners.” “The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority.
The January 31 display date is too risky given the uncertainties surrounding the Omicron variant. “We are excited to celebrate Music’s Biggest Night on a date to be revealed in the near future.”
Los Temerarios
Los Temerarios announced on their social media platforms that they had postponed their 2022 tour, which was scheduled to begin on Feb. 4, in favor of a 2023 date because of the “serious situation.”
“At this moment, everyone’s health is a top priority, and although we want to return to the stage and reunite with our fans, we don’t want to put anyone at risk,” the band, fronted by brothers Gustavo and Adolfo Angel, wrote in a statement.
