A Christmas caller taunted President Joe Biden on Thursday by saying, “Let’s go, Brandon,” during a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Santa-tracker broadcast, and Biden responded by stating he agreed.
For 66 years, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has been “monitoring” Santa’s travels on Christmas Eve to distribute gifts around the world.
On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden took calls from viewers as part of a NORAD tracking broadcast as part of the organization’s tracking activities. One caller, identified only as Jared from Oregon, dialed in and decided to prank the president by saying things like:
“Yep, I’m hoping you have a good holiday season as well! Let’s go, Brandon, and have a Merry Christmas.”
When the Bidens asked him about his daughter, the man revealed he was the father of a 2-year-old girl called Penelope. He told them this shortly before hanging up the phone.
Without taking a beat, Biden responded with a smile and the words: “Let’s get this party started, Brandon. I agree with you.” The first lady gave a wry chuckle.
When it comes to Biden opponents, the phrase “let’s go Brandon” has become a well-known euphemism that translates as “f*** Joe Biden.”
A TV reporter made the mistake of reporting that a NASCAR audience was yelling “let’s go Brandon” when they were chanting “f*** Joe Biden” in October, prompting those hostile to Biden—and particularly supporters of former President Donald Trump—to use the phrase.
Since then, Trump has used the term frequently in fundraising emails he has sent out. The phrase has been used on bumper stickers, banners, and t-shirts by Biden detractors.
Trump fans have even created cryptocurrency coins with names such as $LGB (for “let’s go Brandon”) and $FJB (for “f*** Joe Biden,” among other variations).
It’s unknown whether the president and first lady were aware of the significance of the slogan when they were challenged by a caller on Thursday morning. Reporters from Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response within an hour.
While President Joe Biden’s poll scores and popularity with the American public have plummeted over the past several months, the holiday season has arrived.

An array of disasters, including an ongoing outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and fast inflation, which was mostly caused by supply chain issues, have dogged President Barack Obama’s administration during his first year in the White House.
