December 28 definitely has been the last day on which stimulus checks were issued. The expectation was that the fourth stimulus check would be issued. Going forward, how will Americans receive more funding?
State Versus Federal Aid
According to a recent proposal, a fourth stimulus check will most likely not be released at the beginning of next year. This may be caused by Senator Manchin’s refusal to support the Build Back Better bill, which would have had an equal 50-50 vote in the Senate. So, before the new year and in the first months of 2022, what relief or benefits can U.S. citizens expect?
States Providing Local Aid
A list of states has promised their citizens help, even though the federal government might not provide any further relief. This financial help might ease some concerns during the current outbreak of the Omicron variant. By the way, that would be very helpful to Americans who are at risk. American states are offering their citizens additional financial assistance. More stimulus checks and financial aid will be provided by the following states and cities next year:
- California
- Chicago
- New Orleans
- Columbia
California
As of this writing, the state of California Tax franchise board has paid over 900,000 payments under the Golden State Stimulus II program. Citizens with incomes less than $75,000 received checks ranging between $600 and $1,100. The program may continue next year with a surplus in the budget.

Chicago
UBI payments will be provided in Chicago to families earning less than $35,000 per year, according to Chronicle News. The payments will be $550 per month for such families. The American Rescue Act partially pays for these payments for 5000 families in this state.
Columbia
100 fathers in Columbia have continued to receive ongoing support as part of the CLIMB program. No tax dollars are used to fund the program, which is solely philanthropic. Each father received $500 per month on a debit card. There will be payments of this financial support through September 2022.
New Orleans
A stimulus payment of $350 is being provided by the city of New Orleans. These funds will be made available to 125 selected teens on a monthly basis. The program is part of the state’s financial literacy effort. The funds will be provided to unemployed or non-schooling 16 to 24-year-olds.
