Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested After Killing Pedestrian Near Highmark Stadium!

Following a hit-and-run incident outside Highmark Stadium on Monday night, the Town of Orchard Park Police Department is looking into the incident.

The mishap transpired shortly after 8:00 p.m. There was a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car, so police were summoned to Southwestern Boulevard and Stadium Drive.

Officers discovered a man lying in the street when they got to the scene. Witnesses informed police that the car drove off the area and headed east on Southwestern Boulevard. Investigators said that as the car left the area, one witness was able to obtain the license plate number and description of the vehicle.

The victim, a Rochester man in his 65th year, was brought to ECMC. His wounds later claimed his life.

The suspect vehicle was located in Buffalo by the police. There is one individual in police custody. That individual was charged with one count of fleeing the scene of a car accident in Orchard Park Court. The police have not formally identified the driver of the car.

For over two hours, Southwestern Blvd. between Abbott Road and California Road was closed as police conducted an accident reconstruction as part of their investigation.

Another male victim was hit by a car at the intersection of Abbott Road and Milestrip Road shortly after that collision at approximately 10 p.m. The 36-year-old victim was transported by ambulance to ECMC.

The driver of the car that was involved in the collision assisted the police while it was still there. According to investigators, the pedestrian had the right of way as it crossed the street and went into the path of the car despite the crossing sign.
