Two Jackpot Lottery Tickets Were Sold for a Total of $632 Million

For two Powerball ticket holders, the start of the new year has already proven to be beyond fortunate. According to lottery authorities, they purchased winning tickets for the $632.6 million prize that was won on Wednesday night.

One was obtained from a 7-Eleven in Sacramento, California, and the other from a 7-Eleven in Wisconsin. It wasn’t obvious whether each was purchased by a single person or by a group of people.

It was the seventh-largest prize in the game’s history and the seventh-highest payout ever.

The $632.6 million jackpot will be divided among the lucky ticket holders. Each ticket is valued at $316.3 million if the proceeds are distributed in annual annuities over a 29-year period, or $225.1 million if the winners choose to get their prize in a single lump amount immediately. Both alternatives are before any taxes are applied.

On Wednesday night’s drawing, the numbers chosen were 6, 14, 25, 33, and 46, with the Powerball number being 17. The Power Play multiplier for this drawing was 2.

Officials with the lottery first estimated the prize at $610 million, but they announced on Wednesday that it had increased to $632.6 million as a result of “rapidly increasing sales across the country.”

In total, almost 3 million tickets were sold, with rewards ranging from $4 to $2 million in value. There are two Match 5 + Power Play tickets worth $2 million each and twelve Match 5 tickets worth $1 million each among them.

Since the Powerball jackpot was won on October 4, when a player took home $699.8 million, no one had won the jackpot.

The next Powerball drawing will take place on Saturday night, with a starting price of $20 million in the bag.

Powerball tickets are available for $2 for each game. A total of 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands sell tickets for the event.

One in every 24.9 people has a chance of winning any prize. If you want to win the lottery, your chances of winning are 1 in 292.2 million.
