One man in Albany Park had a bad morning when he walked outside and saw that a sinkhole had eaten part of his car.
In the 5000 block of North Lawndale, it took place. Owner Jim DeWan says that city crews have been working on that block since the spring of last year. This week, they did more work.
Dewan says that the city didn’t want to help him get his car out, which made things even worse. The car was eventually pulled out of the sinkhole by a private tow truck.
DeWan thinks that a broken water pipe under the street may have caused the sinkhole. Saturday, CBS 2 was waiting for a city official to confirm that.
