One man was killed in a shooting at an Airbnb party in Birmingham early Sunday.
Birmingham police named the victim as Phong Nguyen. He was 21 and resided in Birmingham.
At 2:35 a.m., West Precinct officers responded to a complaint of a shooting in the 900 block of Dugan Avenue.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated that police entered the house and discovered Nguyen unresponsive inside.
The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him deceased at the spot.
Fitzgerald stated that the residence is a short-term rental Airbnb. Someone fired shots during a party or gathering.
Detectives are investigating what events led to the victim’s shooting, as well as if the suspect or suspects were inside the party or outside.

No one is in custody. Nguyen is Birmingham’s 19th homicide this year.
Two of those have been considered justified and thus not criminal.

There have been 24 killings in Jefferson County, 19 of which occurred in Birmingham.
