This week, San Francisco jury found a man guilty of rape and child endangerment. It is for luring a 13-year-old girl to his apartment in the Mission District. Then he sexually assaulted her there.
Benjamin Caal was found guilty of aggravated child sexual assault. Two counts of lewd conduct with a minor by force, and abduction for the rape that occurred in May of 2016.
Prosecutors claim that Caal, 33, and the victim both resided in the same building.
Horrific Acts of Violence Against Children
According to District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, “this conviction gives justice to the victim and her family and makes Benjamin Caal responsible for his vile acts.”

Horrific acts of violence against children, like those committed by Caal, have no place in our society. We will always fight for justice on behalf of survivors of sexual abuse and assault.
The San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit led the investigation. They worked for years with prosecutors to build a case against Caal.
Allred addressed the jury. He said; “I would like to thank the jury members for their time and careful consideration of the evidence given throughout this trial.”
Caal has been in jail since his 2016 arrest, when he was denied release on $1 million bond despite a strong case against him.
On November 4, he will be handed down a sentence.
