A police officer in Brook Park has been placed on paid leave after being arrested for domestic abuse and unlawful restraint early Friday morning. Shortly around 7 a.m., police arrived. Friday, Police Chief Edward Powers III acknowledged in a statement that officers had been to the residence of Patrolman Frankie Smith in response to a report of domestic violence.
According to him, Smith was placed on paid administrative leave after the event. I-Team: Cleveland student arrested for carrying AR-15 into school Powers stated that Smith was arraigned on Friday morning in Berea Municipal Court and that “more information” can be found in the docket for that court. However, no charges against Smith can be found in the jurisdiction’s online court records.
