Tragedy struck in Portland on Friday afternoon as a person was fatally hit by a freight train.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near Northeast 112th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street, away from a rail crossing. The train, traveling east, struck the pedestrian.
Thankfully, the train crew members were unharmed. Portland police are currently investigating this unfortunate incident.
