Telosa, a name derived from the Greek word ‘telos’ which means ‘higher purpose’ is a proposed utopian planned city conceived by American billionaire and former Walmart president Marc Lore. The project has a target population of 5 million people by 2050, with the first phase of construction expected to house 50,000.
The features of this city include a 15-minute commute all around the city and promote the usage of scooters, bikes, and non-fossil fuel using vehicles, which would apparently be banned in the utopian city.
The city promises eco-friendly architecture, sustainable energy production, and a purportedly drought-resistant water system. Lore says Telosa will “be the most open, the fairest, and the most inclusive city in the world.”

Lore has the vision to combine the features of well-known cities around the world for Telosa. He notably aims for the city to be “as vibrant and diverse as New York City.. combined with efficiency, safety, and cleanliness found in a city like Tokyo… combined with the social services, sustainability, and the governance model of a city like Stockholm.”
The project’s planners intend for the city to be built on cheap desert land, with Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and Appalachia proposed as potential locations.
However, the dream city will not be built overnight. As of now, the proposed budget for Telosa is at a whopping $400 billion. According to CNN, funding will come from “various sources,” project organizers said, including private investors, philanthropists, federal and state grants, and economic development subsidies.
