On Friday, three guys were detained for reportedly kidnapping a teen from Southern California and holding him hostage for money. The suspects were revealed to be Santa Maria locals: Fidel Jesús Patino Jaimes, 22, Jair Tomás Ramos Domínguez, 26, and Ezequiel Felix López, 27
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the victim was a 17-year-old teenager from San Bernardino County. The three suspects are accused of causing the teen boy’s car crash on the morning of September 18. According to court filings, the males grabbed the child as he got out of his car and dragged him over to their SUV.
The boy’s mother got a call from a Mexico-based phone number later that day. near exchange for the boy, the caller asked she provide $500,000 to a place near Nogales, Mexico. According to officials, they informed her that the boy’s father was to blame for the kidnapping.
Soon later, a WhatsApp video of the kidnapped boy in the SUV’s backseat was shared on the mother’s cellphone. The man started “reading from a script, saying that the abduction was his father’s fault for an incident that occurred in New York, and saying you know what you stole.”
The victim’s mother kept getting calls from numerous Mexico-based phone numbers a few days later. Each time, a caller demanded money and threatened to cut the boy’s body parts off if it wasn’t given.

The victim said that once the ransom was not paid, it was eventually lowered to $100,000. Authorities eventually identified the suspects at a motel in Santa Maria, a city in the county of Santa Barbara. Detectives used doorbell camera security footage of the kidnapping to pinpoint the suspects’ car.
All three males and a gun were discovered after investigating the motel room. The teenage guy was discovered unconscious in a room corner. According to police, all three individuals were detained and charged with kidnapping. The maximum term for the offense, if found guilty, is life in prison. The U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles is where they will make their initial court appearances on September 25.
