Stimulus Check Update: Californians to Receive $1,100 in New Pay Package

California’s Golden Stimulus Checks are being updated with more money as over 375,000 checks are being sent to residents, amounting to up to $1,100 each.

According to the state Franchise Tax Board (FTB), this round of the Stimulus Checks is intended to lend support to both “low-income Californians” and “help those facing a hardship due to Covid-19.”

Most regular recipients are to receive a $600 check, and families with eligible dependents will receive up to $1,100. However, those who filed their tax returns after August 20 are likely to face a wait of around 45 days so their check can be processed.

The payments have started to go out on October 6, but it could take up to three weeks for the check to arrive by mail.

There is also a special $1,000 check for taxpayers in California with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. Americans that use ITINs are not eligible to claim federal stimulus payments.

The cash will come out of federal pandemic recovery funds designated to California, as well as a $75.7 billion surplus.

Residents can expect to receive their money in the form of either direct deposit or a paper check. According to Andrew LePage, a representative with the state’s tax agency’s Public Affairs Office, about 330,000 of the payments will be delivered by direct deposit, while around 375,000 will go out as paper checks.

“Californians who have been impacted by this pandemic will get help to provide for their families and keep a roof over their heads,” said Governor Gavin Newsom back in January.

These cash support checks coming every other week are part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s $100billion “California Comeback Plan” to help residents shoulder the burden brought on by a national economic slowdown brought on by the pandemic.

The state is expected to send out more payments on Oct. 15.
