Senator Gary Peters Discusses New Threats To National Security

This week, Senator Gary Peters met with representatives from the departments of national security and counterterrorism to talk about the evolving risks to homeland security.

Peters asserted during the discussion that the FBI and Department of Homeland Security were not adequately addressing the issue of domestic terrorism.

“Congress and this Administration must work together to guarantee that we are doing everything possible to keep Americans safe,” Peters said, citing the breadth and volume of these and other national security concerns.

Members of the committee also discussed the federal government’s initiatives to defend the nation against major natural catastrophes and cyberattacks.

Peters also thinks that with more government funding, social media businesses can contribute to reducing the spread of extreme ideology.
